PRE INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS & TIPS
YOU MUST BE PRESENT
CLEAR WORK AREA
PROVIDE ELECTRICAL POWER
ROOM TEMPERATURE 70O If you are going to remove the old carpet and pad or other floor covering, please use these helpful steps. DO NOT pull up old tackless strips (looks like yard sticks with staples) from around the perimeter of the room. The installer will check the tackless strips and replace them when necessary. When removing the old pad, make sure that all staples are removed or nailed completely into the sub-floor and that the floor is swept clean and smooth with no remaining padding or staples to snag your new carpet.

REMOVE ALL MOLDINGS
STRIP ALL BEDS & CLEAR CLOSETS
DISCONNECT ELECTRONICS AND APPLIANCES HAVE ALL BALANCES DUE READY ON INSTALLATION DAY All balances due must be paid in full upon completion of installation either to the installer directly or through the installer to the store with your credit card on file or pre-authorized finance account. READ, REVIEW AND DOUBLE CHECK ALL PAPERWORK While we do everything possible to make sure all order information is complete and accurate, we cannot be responsible for errors and omissions on order paperwork. Additionally, Carpet Mart and its installers are not responsible for any unfortunate deviations in scheduling resulting in lost time or other inconveniences caused by traffic, inclement weather or any other rare unforeseen factor(s) that may inhibit normal installation. Please Note: If the above work is not completed prior to installation, rescheduling and extra charges may apply. Additionally, you may be asked to sign a waiver that you have reviewed, read and understand this folder and all documents related to this transaction. POST INSTALLATION & CARE TIPS DOOR REMOVAL AND REHANGING It is always necessary to remove doors, so our installers will remove the pins and doors for you. After installation, we will rehang the doors under normal circumstances. Please be aware that there is the possibility that after installation the doors may not clear and swing freely, and will not be rehung by the installers. We are unable to plane or cut doors as this requires equipment and expertise best provided by a licensed carpenter. SEAMS Seams will be professionally made but we cannot guarantee invisibility. However, we do guarantee the structure and that they are made correctly. Some carpet and vinyl hide seams better than others and traffic levels and light sources can also accentuate or hide seams. ROLL MARKS You may see shaded areas or lines across the width of a new carpet. These are a result of the weight of the carpet resting on itself during storage. These marks will disappear in time with normal traffic and vacuuming. During the cold, dry months, these marks may be particularly stubborn. If roll marks are still visible after 90-days, please call your Carpet Mart store service department. BUBBLES Occasionally you may notice some bubbles from under a new vinyl floor which is normal after installation and should disappear within 3-4 weeks. CARPETING Immediately following the installation, you should thoroughly vacuum your new carpet to remove excess or loose fibers that may be present. New carpet requires regular vacuuming and regular professional cleaning. We recommend your new carpet be vacuumed at least twice a week for the first year, and daily in high traffic areas. Likewise, we also recommend that you have your carpet professionally cleaned every 18-months. WOOD & LAMINATE FLOORING Please note that no laminate flooring is absolutely scratch-proof, but with regular vacuuming with a hard surface attachment and using a correct hard surface cleaner, your laminate floor should look great for years. With wood floors and laminates, use entrance mats and floor protectors on furniture legs and chairs. Wipe up spills with a damp sponge. Never use oil or soap cleaners. Follow manufacturers specific care tips for prolonging the life of your flooring. VINYL FLOORING Damp mop weekly with non-detergent floor cleaner. Use floor protectors for furniture or appliances. Use only floor care products approved by the vinyl manufacturer. CERAMIC TILE After new ceramic has been installed and has dried and cured completely, you should seal the grout with a quality grout sealant. Thereafter, your prompt attention to spills can prevent surface stains to some tiles and all grout. Do not damp mop your new tile floor for the first 3-days and refrain from walking on new tile for 24 hours. Use only cleaners recommended specifically for ceramic tile. |
